Dr. Mo Shu-zhen Treats Infertility Families
Xiangxi, located in the west to Hunan province in China, is an ancient and mysterious place. Ever since there is human being, there are the medical activities. In the long term of struggling with the natural world, Xiangxi Tujia people use these natural plants to treat various diseases and achieved good results. And after hundreds of years of repeated testing and verification, a unique Tujia medicine is formed with the essence of traditional Chinese medicine condensed in it.
Mo Shu-zhen’s maternal great-grandfather Zhang Chang-hong was a scholar versed in both literature and military affairs at the end of the Qing Dynasty. When he was young, he studied in a neighbor county of his hometown. He was married, but after seven years he still had no kids. In the process of practicing medicine, he used the strong points of the teachers together with his own experience for treatment of many diseases and achieved good results. Later he became a famous doctor too.
Mo Shu-zhen’s grandmother, Zhang Wan-yu, was an intelligent clever girl, deeply loved by her father. She often heard people called from the neighbor mountains: "Teacher ah-, come to eat sweet wine!" She said to her father, "Dad ah-, they have their babies, how they always call you to eat sweet wine?" Her father told her: "It is Dad who treated them that they have their babies."
In great-grandfather's home, people follow people coming for treatment everyday. Some of them had fracture from cutting firewood in the mountain, some had their eyes injured when they worked on cereal crops in fields, some had sore throat, some had severe boils on the body, some ladies had "puerperal fever", whose daughter-in-law had infertility, or whose wife had several times of abortion, so on and so forth. Her grandmother was kept busy with receiving the sick and picking herbal medicines.
When the grandmother got married, her father gave the secret formula for treating infertility to her. Grandmother treated numerous people with it in her own practicing medicine for decades of years. In 1981 Mo Shu-zhen graduated from the medical school of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. She created the infertility specialist out-patient department of the Luxi County People's Hospital of Xiangxi in 1989, receiving the infertility patients from all over the country. Later, what she found was that 60% of infertility patients were caused by fallopian tube obstruction due to environmental pollution and iatrogenic infection. This is the difficult problem in the medical field of the world and even in the history of Tujia medicine there was no precedent of treatment for it.
